I Am A Child of God
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” New International Version (NIV)
First and foremost, I am a child of God and have accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior. I haven’t always been a staunch believer and found myself searching for the answers in my early years. However, one day I made the decision to commit myself to having a real relationship with God. It was the best decision I’ve ever made in my life and it is the best relationship anyone can have.
Birthplace: Cleveland, Ohio or as they call it “The Mistake by the Lake” Haven’t they heard that God doesn’t make mistakes? On the other hand, I did elect to move because it was way too cold for my blood.
Siblings: Two older brothers who I love to death. If they could have gotten away with naming me Patrick; they would have. I was definitely one of the boys; tomboy that is.
Parents: Mom and dad are still married and in their eighties (Thank you God!). Mom walks five miles a day five days a week and she has a personal trainer. Dad’s in great shape too. He still drives and is part of a gang called the “Old Timers.”
Children: God blessed me with a Cairn Terrier name Blu. He’s a blonde and fatter version of “Toto” from the Wizard of Oz. I got him when he was 8 weeks old. He’ll be 15 years old soon. He thinks he is the Alpha in the household; the little ones always do.
Relationship Status: Well, that depends on who wants to know.
Professional Status: I’m the proud owner of two corporations and a radio talk show. Guess you can tell that I like to stay busy.
Wildlife: I love wildlife, especially the Bald Eagle and Deer. I’m sure you can understand why I love the Bald Eagle, but I’m sure you’re wondering; why deer? Well, they’ve practically taken over my yard and one in particular has taken to me so much that she refuses to run when I come outdoors. She’ll even pose for the camera. She’s gotten so comfortable that she gave birth to her fawns. I finally named her Deerbra. Deer are truly beautiful once you can get beyond the ticks and rumors of how nasty they are. If we lived in the wild I guess we’d be nasty too.
Photography: I am a wildlife and nature fanatic. My passion for photography was revealed during my first visit to an Eagle festival. I’d never seen a Bald Eagle in person until I saw the one in captivity at the festival. Can you believe I got teary-eyed when I saw just two of them soaring and perched in the trees just above me. Don’t know why the tears, but I’ve been photographing them in some very cold and remote places. Lord knows I do not like the cold, but when you’re passionate about something, you step out of your comfort zone to enjoy it.
Writing: I’ve always loved writing as a child. I still remember my first poem called “Time Is Running Out.” I now have four blogs, not sure why so many. However, if I had to guess, it would be because I am a creative spirit and always coming up with new ideas to write about. Hard to keep up with my writing. Wish I could do it full time.
Reading: Like writing, reading dates back to my childhood. While my brothers were outdoors playing and getting into trouble, I was reading and studying the Encyclopedia Britannica(s). It paid off because I won the spelling bee contest in elementary school, got skipped a few grades, and was able to graduate from high school at sixteen. I still love reading. I have enough books to start a boutique bookstore, not to mention the digital and audio books. I’m addicted to reading. I love learning new things.
Golf: Golf is a new found passion of mine. Who would have thunk it, right? Not to mentioned that I started late in life. I love the game, but I enjoy the people I golf with and the beautiful courses that allow me to connect with nature. I’ve won several longest drive and closest to the pin contests. I believe my longest drive recorded was 220 yards.
If I continue to share my passions, hobbies and other interests, I would be writing for days, so I’ll just provide a brain dump. Here goes:
Spending time with family and very close friends, travel, hanging out on the beach, boating, riding in my convertible, hiking, walking, sunsets, full moons, the 1st day of a blizzard, cooking in my slow cooker because it does all the work, comedy because I love to laugh and can be quite silly at times, music is a real passion and I use it to alter my moods and when it comes to dancing, I could stay on the dance floor all night long. Angry Birds, Spider Solitaire, and Pictionary are some of my all-time favorite games. I am a gadget girl and techie at heart. I love being on the computer. Aromatherapy, bubble baths, spa music, and an occasional glass of red wine will help me to relax as long as I remember to remove the laptop off my bed.
There’s more, but that’s it for now. Perhaps I will update at a later date when more things come to mind. As I write this I realize that it was more for me. You should try it too. It will help you to get to know yourself better and remember all the wonderful things that you love to do.
Thanks for stopping by.
